A great day, ALL day...

I spent the day with my Sister Brenda!  We shopped until we dropped!  Giggled a lot and got some really good deals:)  Two retired Sisters enjoying the day together!

There is something charming about a little town!  We spent most of our time in the Sock Shoppe, they had SO much more that socks:)  I bought hose, a dress, a scarf and some jewelry for the wedding this summer!

THEN, we went to a small cafeteria for lunch!  That was ONE delicious salmon patty!  I ate the whole thing and enjoyed every bite:)

When I got back home, this was waiting on me!  My precious Niece had found this sweet prayer box and bought it for me!  We have been praying a lot lately!  "When your head starts to worry and your mind just can't rest, put your prayers down on paper and let God do the rest"  OH MY, it really touched my heart!  Thank you Kelly!  I love you to the moon and back!

I met Cindy, Britani and a friend from their work to walk before dinner!  I missed walking on Wednesday but picked back up yesterday!   It felt good, although a bit chilly!  I had my afghan in the car and draped it around my shoulders.  Cindy said "that was dedication"!

Hope you all are having a fabulous Friday!
BIG HUGS and prayers coming your way!

Sweet gum balls and socks...

Not much to talk about this morning:)  We spent some time getting an estimate on doing some beautification in our yard, adding irrigation and sod!  It took a while because we followed the fella around talking to him about WAY TOO much:)  I told him that's what retired people do!  We are gonna take some trees down before he starts the work to help get rid of the root system that keeps the grass from growing.  We have lots of trees, so that's OK!  The kinds of trees we are taking down are the ones that produce the prickly balls!  They are a nuisance!  Seriously!  If you walk on them, they will trip you up and don't dare walk on them with your bare feet!  We'll be happy to see less of those sweet gum balls:)  While I was out walking around, I saw this little fella looking so cute:)  Just had to snap his picture, it looked like he had on an Easter bonnet:)

And can you believe that I found them for sale on ETSY?  I have a fortune in my front yard:)

I gotta get going this morning, my Sister Brenda and I are going to a Sock Shoppe!  I haven't been there in years!  They have much more than socks and I am looking forward to doing a little shopping with my big Sister:)

I hope you have a really nice day!   BIG HUGS coming your way!

Slippery when wet, walk and practice...

The rain messed up our hike!  I didn't want to fall and break a hip OR Tracy to slip and hurt her arm!  We will go another day, it is supposed to be cold the next few days!

I needed to get my walk in and wasn't going to be able to wait until Cindy and Britani got off work!  SO... I went and walked after lunchtime.  There were other ladies walking too, so I felt safe to go alone!

The park is really nice, it has a great place to walk and various loops already measured for you!

Alex is playing softball again and I wanted to watch her practice!  She was on the field when I got there and had not seen me yet!  She SURE is getting tall!  It was fun to watch her and for many years to come:)

Here is a clip of her hitting:)

Isn't this the cutest picture?  Autumn and her baby!  Frankie gets to go most everywhere with the family:)  MY Girl, My Autumn... I am getting extra hugs every time I see her!  I will bank them for when she goes away to College, sniff sniff!

Frankie, says "this is the life, I am SO happy to live with this family"!  Sweet Frankie!

So, that is all for my Tuesday!  It is a rainy Wednesday morning here!  Hope you all enjoy your day, BIG HUGS!

Busy days and a yummy recipe...

WOW, I am tired!  Tracy and I had a busy day doing some projects at her house!  SO much fun just being together whatever we are doing!  I saw all of the children before I left to come home, big hugs and squeezes when they came home from school AND when I left!  Love my Grandchildren!  Then I met my Sister Cindy and Niece Britani at the park to walk!  We had a brisk walk and it felt SO good!  We talked and walked!

Home to fix dinner!  This is what we had!  If you like a Reuben sandwich, you will LOVE this casserole!  My Sister Brenda sent it to me, I made it for dinner and OMG what a yummy dinner!  I only ate one serving but could have eaten MUCH more!  Thanks Sis for sending it to me!  I will certainly make this again!  Marc said he was looking forward to the left-overs:)

Reuben Crescent Bake

2 tubes (8 ounces each) refrigerated crescent rolls

1 pound sliced Swiss cheese

1-1/4 pounds sliced deli corned beef

1 can (14 ounces) sauerkraut, rinsed and well drained

2/3 cup Thousand Island salad dressing

1 egg white, lightly beaten

3 teaspoons caraway seeds

Unroll one tube of crescent dough into one long rectangle; seal seams and
perforations. Press onto the bottom of a greased 13-in. x 9-in. baking dish. Bake
at 375° for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown. Layer with half of the
cheese and all of the corned beef. Combine sauerkraut and salad dressing; spread
over beef. Top with remaining cheese. On a lightly floured surface, press or
roll second tube of crescent dough into a 13-in. x 9-in. rectangle, sealing seams
and perforations. Place over cheese. Brush with egg white; sprinkle with caraway
seeds. Bake for 12-16 minutes or until heated through and crust is golden
brown. Let stand for 5 minutes before cutting.

Yield: 8 servings.

I am just getting my morning started with a hot cup of coffee and Good Morning America!  My Daughter and I are gonna take a little hike today, straight to the top of this mountain:)  I haven't tackled it in a while and Tracy has NEVER seen that view!  It is awesome and I hope at almost 60, I can still make it:)  Will report back tomorrow and hopefully have some pictures of that gorgeous view from the top!

Enjoy your day dear friends, BIG HUGS!

Victory for Junior...

It was a very nice Sunday, Church was wonderful, the signing, the preaching and fellowship was awesome!  I needed to stop at the Grocery store but remembered the Daytona 500 was on, while listening to the radio, I heard that there was a rain delay.  It gave me time to do my shopping:)  WELL... many hours later, the race resumed and my guy won!  I am a Dale Earnhardt Jr. fan!  It was a great ending to a great day!  I know that he was thinking of his Dad a lot yesterday and I know his Dad was looking down on his Son and saying "Job well done"!

We are having some nice weather here and I am thankful for each day!  Can you believe that we are coming up on the end of February?  Me EITHER!  There are SO many fun things to look forward to but I just want to enjoy each day and not rush time:)

"One day at a time Sweet Jesus, that's all I'm asking from you..."

Have a blessed day dear friends, I am heading to my Daughters for the day!  BIG HUGS!

Flowers, showers and a sweet visit...

I was driving out yesterday to run some errands before my Cousin's bridal shower.... WHAT IS THAT?  Oh my goodness, YES... the daffodils are blooming!  The first sign of Spring around my house!  I put the car in park and walked around taking pictures:)

This is one I transplanted from the old home place years ago:)

They bloom for a short time but are OH SO pretty while they are blooming!  Have to enjoy them again today!

daffodil

 noun    (Concise Encyclopedia)

Bulb-forming flowering plant (Narcissus pseudonarcissus), also called common daffodil or trumpet narcissus, native to northern Europe and widely cultivated there and in North America. It grows to about 16 in. (41 cm) and has five or six leaves about 12 in. (30 cm) long that grow from the bulb. The stem bears one large yellow trumpet-shaped blossom. The daffodil's popularity has resulted in the production of many varieties differing from the yellow parent form mainly in colour

I had some banking to do, needed some new walking shoes, ran into my Sister Cindy and Niece Britani as they were on their way to the shower too:)  It turned out to be a very fun shower and believe it or not... I didn't take ANY pictures!  My Aunt was so happy to see us and she sat with us at our table along with my Sisters, Barbara, Brenda, Cindy and my Niece Britani.  They had a wonderful variety of goodies, I knew they would:)  WE played games!  Several games, but one of them was really fun!  You were teamed up with someone, my teammate was my Niece Britani!  THE GAME WAS... the purse game!  Between the two of us, digging around in our purses... WE WON!  SO FUN!

We each won a drinking cup!  This is mine, birds on a wire:)  Love it!

I left the shower and visited my Brother Marshall and Sister-in-law June until sunset:)  It was a GREAT visit!  We laughed and talked and talked and laughed!  I told them I was SO tired, that I felt like taking a nap after my busy day!  My Brother told me to pile up on their sofa, he would get me a pillow and a blanket:)  SWEET BROTHER of mine!  I stayed until almost dark, he walked me out... we hugged and off I went!  I always leave their house feeling good having been there!

Well, this post has gotten kinda long:)  It was a full Saturday, full of love!  Everyday is better when shared:)  Have a blessed Sunday dear friends, BIG HUGS and prayers coming your way!

Silence and a shower...

Silence...  Not a sound from any of the dripping faucets that have aggravated me for some time:)  ALL of the toilets have new innards and that feels good!  The Plumber was very nice, did a great job and gave me a LARGE bill!  BUT, since we have lived here for 12 years and not had to call one... It was OK:)  I had put off getting the dripping faucets fixed for some time, now it is done!  This was the most exciting thing that happened on Friday:)

TODAY?  My Cousin's Daughter is getting married in April and the shower is today:)  I LOVE showers AND Weddings!  My gift is already in the car!  They were registered at Bed Bath and Beyond!  It was a nice shopping day AND when you purchase from the bridal registry, you can use their FREE WRAPPING station!  That was a bonus!  SO, I bought the gift and shuffled right over to the wrapping station to wrap it!  Ribbon too:)  AND if you have a coupon, even if it has expired... they'll still take it:)  I will be shopping there again!  They have SO many space saving things, gotta love saving some space:)

That's that!  I am up, having my hot cup of coffee... enjoying a nice Saturday morning!  Hope you are enjoying yours!  Hugs and prayers coming your way!

The day started with a squish...

OH MY, isn't this how it happens!  I was SO excited to see some old friends that I had not seen in a while!  FRIENDS that I worked with for many years!  When I got up yesterday morning, I was welcomed with a BUNCH of water in my downstairs bathroom/eating area, SQUISH, SQUISH, SQUISH... OH NO... what is this?  My half bath toilet had seen it's days and gave me a lot of water to deal with:(  Deal with it, we did!  I could not let this ruin my day and I didn't!  We sucked up all the water, washed the rugs and towels and on with the day!  A plumber is coming out today to fix things up!  We have lived here 12 years and the toilets need some new innards:)  We have a couple of dripping faucets that are in need of repair too!

I had a lunch to attend and attend it I did!  OH MY, what fun we had!  SO many friends, SO much fun!  It was awesome!  I didn't take a ton of pictures but will share what I took:)  THIS group of friends are OH SO special to me!

I want to point out one of my friends in the picture below... blue shirt, top left and right!  She is the one who came to get me when my Mama passed away!  I was making coffee in the break room and she had gotten the call that I was needed at home!  I will never forget it, Pat Corley, if I live to be a hundred years old!
We had fun, we ate lunch but mostly we talked and enjoyed our time together!

Alex had her first practice last night!  Softball:)  I am SO excited to watch her play!  I told Marc last night, she will do great, it is in her blood:)  Tracy sent me a picture of Alex ready to go to practice...

AND because Tracy knew how much I hated to miss it, she sent me a couple of movies too:)

My Son-in-law insisted we get their de-humidifier and blower to put where the water was!  SO we did:)  Waiting on the plumber to come and fix us up!

Hope you are having a wonderful day, what day is it?  OH it is Friday:)  HUGS coming your way!

Lunch and another B'day...

My Sister and I made plans to grab some lunch so I could give her Birthday present!  As it turned out, our Sister Barbara was in the area taking her Granddaughter home and joined us too!  She wouldn't get in the picture, she was resting on a nearby bench:)  Jerry, my Brother-in-law did a great job snapping the picture!

We met at this little restaurant on the Square on McDonough!  It was MORE than YUMMY!  The sign on the inside said, (Gritz cookin' makes you good lookin')!  I bet too much of that good cookin' would make me a little too fluffy:)  Seriously, there were so many good things on the menu... I changed my mind a number of times:)

It was a gorgeous day!  The sky was bright blue and the old courthouse standing there just waiting for me to take a picture:)  I had some time left on my parking meter and decided to walk around and do a little shopping!  I spent more time chatting with the shop owners and didn't buy a thing!  I enjoyed my day:)

Today is my Brother-in-law Jeff's Birthday!  Happy Birthday Jeffro!  I can't remember a time when I needed you and you didn't come!  Jeff is a great husband to my baby sister, an awesome Daddy to my Niece and Nephews AND a wonderful Brother-in-law!  Before my Mama passed away... she picked Jeff for her baby girl!  Good job Mama!  Jeff has truly been a blessing to our family!  Love you Jeff, enjoy your day!

Hope you are having a wonderful day!  BIG HUGS and Prayers coming your way for what ails you!  HUGS!

Happy Birthday to my Sister Brenda, I love you and hope you have a wonderful birthday!  Brenda was FOUR when I was born!  I always remember how old she is by doing the math OR I can always check the ducks:)  We each have a duck with our birthday on them!  I made a set like this for our Mama and after she passed away, I made one for all of my Brothers and Sisters!  I can't tell you how many times I have checked these ducks for ages:)

This is one of my favorite pictures of us:)  LOOK at those cute little girls and their dolls, oh aren't we CUTE?  AND we have some pretty dolls!  I have always wondered what we were laughing at:)
